The first chemical cargo simulation training
in China was successfully launched at Lingang Training Center of SC SHIPPING (Shanghai)
Co., Ltd from Feb 4th to 7th, 2026. Twelve C/O and trainee C/O from SC fleet completed
the four-day training and all passed.
Subsequently from Mar 16th to 19th and Mar 24th to 27th, a total of 25 Capt., C/O, and 2/O participated in the cargo operation simulation training.
The training focuses on enhancing practical
skills, relying on the cargo operation simulation system to accurately
reproduce real scenarios of key operations, allowing trainees to conduct
practical exercises in a safe and controllable environment. It brings potential
maritime risk environments into the classroom, not only improving the quality
and skills of the crew but also pursuing zero-error command and safety
management capabilities in a controllable manner. The training helps
effectively to avoid operational risks in actual navigation, achieving
"risk-free trial and error and efficient improvement".
The training strictly adheres to the curriculum requirements of IMO Model Course 1.37, customizing a rigorous course system and assessment system for SC fleet. Through the close integration of theoretical teaching and simulator practical training, it comprehensively enhances the safety skills and emergency response capabilities of the crew in cargo operations.
The coaching team consists of Training Manager Captain Zhang Yumo, Training Executive Capt. Du Jinliang, as well as Capt. Zhou Bingyou, Capt. Zhou Liang, C/O Yue Hua and C/O Zheng Dong, and Trainee C/O Xiang Sunquan from the fleet. They participated in key operation scenarios and directly pointed out the blind spots, hidden dangers, and risks in the practical performance of each group of trainees, achieving good results through "mentoring-style comments". Additionally, Capt. Zhang Huimin, the company's outstanding seafarer of 2025, was specially invited to the site for guidance, sharing his rich maritime experience and professional knowledge with the trainees.
SC SHIPPING Training Center was initiated in March 2025 and completed at the end of November of the same year. The coaching team has all completed professional training and obtained qualifications. The successful holding of the cargo operation simulation training marks a solid step forward for SC SHIPPING in building its own capacity for key skills training of seafarers, providing strong support for the safe operation and high-quality development of SC fleet.
In the future, the company will continue to
conduct cargo operation simulation training on a regular basis, with an annual
target of 180 trainees. It plans to fully cover the training of deck officers
within two years and will continue to conduct rolling training thereafter.
Standardized cargo operation training not only strengthens the safety awareness
and capabilities of officers but also provides a solid talent guarantee for the
safe and efficient navigation of SC vessels, jointly building a safety line for
maritime navigation.
