On June 22, the Yangtze River Pilotage Center, Shanghai Gentco Logistics, and Jiangsu Hangmu Logistics convened in Nanjing for an in-depth and practical exchange seminar focused on key topics including navigation safety during flood season, shipping companies’ primary responsibilities, pilot-master collaboration, and pilotage of chemical tankers. The meeting aimed to strengthen communication and cooperation among the parties, further reinforce safety measures along the Yangtze River, and support enterprise development and the high-quality efficiency of inland logistics corridors.
At the seminar, Director Cheng Xuesan of the Yangtze River Pilotage Center warmly welcomed the two enterprises and systematically introduced the center’s jurisdiction and operational procedures, highlighting ten practical service initiatives launched since its relocation to Nanjing in 2024. He emphasized the risks posed by fluctuating water levels and navigational challenges during flood season, advocating a management philosophy centered on “safety first, prevention foremost, and close coordination” to ensure efficient vessel operations.
Wu Guirong, Executive Vice GM of Shanghai Gentco Logistics, shared updates on the company’s fleet development and port berthing operations along the Yangtze River, expressing sincere gratitude for the long-term guidance and support provided by the Yangtze River Pilotage Center. SC fleet’s approximately 400 annual river voyages have been successfully conducted with professional assistance from the pilot team, significantly enhancing operational efficiency. He added that the company will continue improving its safety management through frameworks such as the "One Guide, Six Guidelines."
Cheng Jiangyuan, Chairman of Jiangsu Hangmu Logistics, reflected on the solid foundation of past collaborations and proposed reviving joint initiatives to establish a regular communication mechanism, enabling collaborative exploration of new technologies and models for enhancing maritime safety and operational optimization.
All participants agreed that, amid increasing ship sizes, growing complexity, and evolving regulations, cooperation among Yangtze River enterprises has become more critical than ever. They concurred that establishing long-term dialogue platforms, promoting technical collaboration, and jointly researching risk prevention strategies could effectively integrate safety management throughout the entire vessel operation lifecycle.
