On September 21, the naming ceremony of the sixth
and seventh 25,900 DWT stainless steel chemical tankers built in collaboration
between SC Shipping and China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Group Yangzhou
Dingheng Shipyard (referred to as “Yangzhou Dingheng”) was held in Nanjing.
Distinguished guests gathered to witness this important occasion, including Mr. WU Guirong, Executive Deputy General Manager of Gentco Logistics and General Manager of SC Shipping; Mr. XIONG Dengpan, General Manager of China Merchants Yangzhou Dingheng Shipyard and China Merchants Nanjing Jinling Shipyard; Ms. Olga Harriton and Ms. SHEN Yong, godmothers of the two ships; Mr. XIAO Han, Commercial Manager of American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Central China; and Mr. LIANG Zongqing, Chairman and General Manager of Shanghai Odely Marine Engineering Co., Ltd.

Ship Christening Ceremony
During the solemn ship christening ceremony, Ms. Olga Harriton named the
vessel with hull number CMYZ0158 as SC LARIMAR. She noted that “LARIMAR” is a
stone hailed as the “soul of the Caribbean.” Its natural blue-and-white
patterns resemble ocean waves, reflecting the clarity, grandeur, and vitality
of the sea, symbolizing safe voyages, smooth trade, lasting value, and enduring
cooperation.
Ms. Olga Harriton also extended her blessings to the new vessel: may SC LARIMAR, like the vibrant larimar across endless sea routes, safeguard the smooth flow of global chemical trade — sailing into calm seas, returning laden with abundance, and voyaging safely wherever she goes.

Subsequently, Ms. SHEN Yong named the vessel with hull number CMYZ0175 as SC NACRE and performed the christening ceremony. She noted that “NACRE” refers to mother of pearl, a marine treasure formed through time, symbolizing protection, nourishment, and time-honored value — much like this finely built new vessel, which embodies the craftsmanship of the shipyard and the professional depth of SC Shipping.
She wished SC NACRE to be firm and gentle like mother of pearl,
accumulating brilliance over time; to safeguard every voyage with safety and
smoothness; to inject steady momentum into global trade; and to bless all crew
members with a smooth departure, calm seas, and a fulfilling return.
Leadership Remarks

In his remarks, Mr. WU Guirong noted that SC Shipping, deeply engaged in liquid chemical shipping for over three decades, has been upholding the principles of putting safety first, putting customers at the center, and pursuing sustainable development, and the company has now grown into a significant player in the global liquid chemical shipping industry. He also noted that China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Group, with its dual-base layout, mature manufacturing system, and strict quality control, has strong capabilities in building high-end liquid cargo vessels. The naming of the two new vessels marks an important milestone in advancing the fleet project, reflecting the professionalism, dedication, and seamless cooperation of all parties involved.
Going forward, SC Shipping will continue to deepen its presence with its
core business, leverage the new-generation green fleet to optimize global
capacity and services, and looks forward to working hand in hand with China
Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Group to build more premium vessels, jointly
injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of China's
shipbuilding and shipping industries.
Mr. XIONG Dengpan reviewed the cooperation course between the two parties,
stating that since the delivery of the first vessel, the shipyard has relied on
the efficient synergy of its Nanjing and Yangzhou bases to continuously
strengthen quality delivery through rolling production model, standardized
management and refined execution. The steady progress of the 25,900 DWT series
stands as both a vivid testament to the enduring friendship between the two
parties and the best illustration of their ever-deepening mutual trust.
Looking ahead, the shipyard will continue to focus on SC Shipping's needs, refine
its shipbuilding processes with craftsmanship, and strengthen quality assurance.
It looks forward to deepening cooperation with SC Shipping, moving together for
win-win development and jointly building more premium vessels that stand the
test of the market.
Under the clear autumn skies of Nanjing, with the Yangtze River flowing
calm and serene, the naming ceremony of the two vessels came to a successful
close amid warm applause and heartfelt blessings.
SC LARIMAR and SC NACRE stand ready to set sail, adding new strength to SC Shipping's fleet of 25,900 DWT green vessels. May the two vessels carry with them the honor and aspirations of this day, riding the winds and breaking through waves as they sail across the world's seas. May they chart new courses across the vast blue oceans and bring fresh momentum to SC Shipping's high-quality development.
