On August 21, the naming and delivery ceremony of the fifth 25,900 DWT
stainless steel chemical tanker built by China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry
Group Yangzhou Dingheng Shipyard Co., Ltd. (referred to as “Yangzhou Dingheng”)
for SC Shipping was grandly held in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province.
Distinguished guests from all stakeholders gathered to witness this
important moment, including Mr. ZANG Yingui, Deputy General Manager of SC
Shipping; Mr. XIONG Dengpan, General Manager of China Merchants Yangzhou
Dingheng Shipyard and China Merchants Nanjing Jinling Shipyard; Ms. CHEN
Xiaoqin, the ship's godmother; Mr. SONG Aimin, General Manager of American
Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Central China; and Mr. LI Chen, Deputy General Manager
and Chief Engineer of Shanghai Odely Marine Engineering Co., Ltd.
During the solemn ship christening ceremony, Ms. CHEN Xiaoqin named the new
vessel SC JASPER. She noted that “JASPER” signifies jade, renowned for its
tough and dense texture as well as its warm and clear luster. The name
symbolizes not only the vessel's robust and reliable quality but the company's
commitment to green and low-carbon shipping. She extended her heartfelt wishes
to the new vessel: may SC JASPER — as steady and luminous as jade itself —
weather every storm the ocean brings, protect the waters it sails, and return
laden with pride and achievement, becoming a true gem in the fleet of SC
Shipping.
In the height of summer, the tides surge in Yangzhou. SC JASPER now officially
joins the fleet, adding a new and capable vessel to SC Shipping's 25,900 DWT
green fleet. May she ride the wind and waves, sail steadily and far, and chart
a brilliant course across global trade routes, providing a solid foundation for
SC Shipping's high-quality development.
